Why Halloween Is So Fun

When we're younger Halloween is all about the candy, when we get older Halloween becomes all about the sugar.  By sugar I mean scantily dressed women.  Enjoy the weekend, I hope all of you get plenty of treats!

I've got a sweet tooth,

New Emma Watson interview with Cinemania

Today we got a translation of Emma's Cinemania interview - thanks to harrypotterla.com. It's a really good interview that covers many different areas of ther life. So enjoy!

Cinemania

Why did you cut your hair?

You think it’s crazy? I’ve always loved it. I think it’s elegant. I’ve wanted to do this since a very long time, but I wasn’t able to do it because of the shooting. I feel like I’m beginning a new era in my life, so it’s a bit symbolic

because I associated my hair with playing Hermione. I needed a fresh beginning.

Do you want to change people’s perception about you?

I don’t make my decisions in a wise way. I just do what I feel like doing, and whatever makes me happy. I never decided thinking what others would think about it. I went to the beauty shop alone because I didn’t want to be influenced by others. I’m owning my look again. I’ve been another person half of my life. Just want to discover my identity.

Have you ever felt like Hermione has taken over Emma?

Definitely. But, strangely, what I feel has taken over me lately is this famous actress named Emma, which everyone talks about and who people think I am. As we three (Dan y Rupert) have been getting more famous, out of Harry Potter, I have felt that. But the truth is that, from any characters you could be associated with, Hermione is wonderful, she’s a heroine. I feel blessed.

What is going to be your first project after Harry Potter?

I’m contemplating many things but I can’t talk about them yet. I’m gonna try to film something in the winter holidays.

How are you getting over the end of Harry Potter?

We’ve always have this breaks between the movies. So, now I’m feeling like I am in one of those breaks and I’ll return to the set. It’s gonna take a while. But I think we are all excited for what’s to come, try new things. It’s a bittersweet feeling.

From all the directors, which one is the one who understood better the Potterverse?

Chistopher really understood the book’s heart; Alfonso, his magic; Mike understood the comedy; and David, the darkness and subtlety. Everyone gave interesting things.

Hermione’s family doesn’t appear in the books that much, does knowing so little about them hardened creating the character?

I think I created her in my head. Alfonso asked us to write letters about our characters, and I wrote how do I thought Hermione’s life was before going to Hogwarts: her parents are dentists, they are very conservative and

academic, with a very well organized house and that kind of stuff.

Do you think 3D is going to add something to the story?

Being honest, I haven’t thought about it. They never told us that while filming. But it’s going to be impressive, as if it isn’t intense enough without the 3D.

Is there something from the book that is not in the movie?

There’s everything. That’s why we made two movies.

Which was the most memorable scene?

The most fun was Fleur & Bill’s wedding, everyone dancing and everything. The last week I made a scene where I had to jump over a dragon’s back and it was amazing. As well as the scene where we are chased by Snatchers through the forest. Also, I’ll never forget the scene where Helena Bonham Carter tortures me.

How did they split the movie exactly? Was it like first and second half, or it depended on the story’s arch?

You really want to know, don’t you? I’m not telling you. Actually, I don’t know. They are going to decide it in the editing process, because we shot both parts at the same time. They are still debating how is it going to be.

How is this movie’s tone?

It’s epic! The scale seems to have grown immensely I guess there was this consciousness from everyone about this being the last film after ten years of work, is the finale battle, the last chance to show what we can do. And it

wasn’t just the actors but everyone: the custom designers, the people from special effects… the process was like, “Let’s say good-bye with a BANG!”. That’s why it will be something never seen before. I know I’ve said this before, but this film is another level.

What about your college life?

To leave my home was a shock. I didn’t know anyone and it was hard, but it was worthwhile because I had an incredible time and made new friends. I’m very excited to start my sophmore year with the knowledge I have now. Obviously I went for the academic part but I want to live like everyone else too, share a room, a bathroom.

What are you looking for?

Personally I just want to be satisfied, happy, quiet and stable. Professionally, I want it to be significant, I hope to be able to take the right decisions. And when I say ‘significant’ I mean to make someone’s day happier, make them laugh, touch someone. Or maybe after three years in college I will realize I want something completely different. I need space to decide, I’m not ready to say “This is who I am.” I have not defined who I am.

It’s impressive to hear you talk like that when you’re just 20 years old. What helped you be such a grounded and mature girl?

Harry Potter was entirely filmed in a studio in the middle of nowhere, in the most stinky, leaky, falling-apart-shed you can ever imagine, and I went to that place everyday for ten years. Yes, I made this extremely famous movies, but

everything was inside a bubble, with the same people. Everything was really contained. The crew became my family. I wasn’t involve with all the Hollywood stuff, that would’ve made me feel really disturbed and lost. No one ever treat me as if I was different from anyone, nobody treat us as stars.

There’s also my breeding. My family —and I can’t really make enough emphasis in this— ISN’T interested in the artistic environment at all. In my house, nobody watch movies, they are academic oriented, they are just not interested in this. Me being an actress is not their dream made true. They just want to watch me happy. Their

main focus is not my stardom.

And last, that’s how I am. Fame never attracted me. Actually, I’m quite shy, I’ve never liked attention and money. I feel myself a little bit like Finding Nemo’s Dori, I just keep swimming and don’t turn around to watch the mess.

This Sucks!

Now, it's a little weird to be featuring a vacuum cleaner here on Druther.  They can't all be about kicks and hot broads but the Electrolux Vacs From The Sea are pretty fresh looking and they serve as a tremendously impactful environmental awareness tool. This past Summer Electrolux, a design savvy appliance company set out to raise awareness about the obscene amounts of plastic mucking up the Earth's oceans.  To do this they formed teams from around the world to gather trash from five different oceans.  Once sorted the plastic pieces found in the oceans were wrapped up and sent in to the Electrolux designers to be reused and re-purposed in a new limited edition line of vacuum cleaners.  The Vacs From The Sea are based on the company's already popular Ultra One Green-Model, a vacuum that is produced using 70% recycled plastics.  It's nice to see a larger company taking an active role in environmental awareness and I'm sure the program served as a solid marketing/ PR tool.

Give a hoot,

Life, A Book By Keith Richards

Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones has a new book out titled Life, it chronicles his 60+ years of trials and tribulations from childhood to the present.  The book brings surprisingly insightful thoughts on Keith's journey through his adolescence, being a Rolling Stone, parenting, music and of course DRUGS (lots of em!).  It's somewhat ironic that the book is called Life since Keith appears to have been a zombie since the early 1970's.  If he was really a member of the undead I think instead of a hunger for brains he would have an unquenchable hunger for blow... or booger sugar.  His book serves as an inspiration to anyone who wants to live forever through the preserving powers of narcotics and makes a for a great read.

Under my thumb,
.Stinky Britches.

New Interview

I've Gone From Film Star To A Class Act

Emma Watson is one of the most instantly recognised girls on the planet but now she's enjoying the magic of being an ordinary student. are going to see me most days and have just got used to me."

The 20-year-old is studying in the US at prestigious Brown University in Rhode Island and has settled into academic life.

She said: "It's hard to choose one thing that I like most about university. I guess I just enjoy the simplicity of my life.

"I am sharing a tiny room with another girl and I only have space for three or four pairs of jeans and a couple of tops. My life has been compressed but it's nice."

Her student schedule in the States is a world apart from the red carpet glamour of being a film star.

She said: "I live in a bubble. I don't read newspapers and I don't watch TV."

Emma is also pleased that she has been accepted by the other students.

She said: "I was amazed how quickly everyone on campus got over that I was from Harry Potter.

"I'm going to be there for four years so they've realised that they are going to see me most days and have just got used to me.

The young actress admits she's had mixed feelings while shooting her final scenes as Hermione.

But one plus point has been throwing herself into the rough and tumble of action sequences.

She said: "It's such an emotionally heavy film so it is sometimes nice to have a break from that and do something more physical.

"There is a giant snake involved, we get picked up on a dragon, dropped in a lake and I nearly get my throat slit. It's real adventure."

being an action girl in the two-part epic but she's also very aware that a huge part of her life is coming to an end.

Emma has got a kick out of being an action girl in two-part epic but she's also very aware that a huge part of her life is coming to an end.

She said: "I have grown up with this character. I can't tell you how it will feel to walk away."

Music Monday: Bobby 'Boris' Pickett & The Cryptkickers... Monster Mash

Halloween is almost here, so what better way to usher in the fun spirit of the holiday than with the song Monster Mash by Bobby 'Boris' Pickett and the Cryptkickers.  Monster Mash exemplifies the nostalgia associated with Halloween and conjures monstrous memories of our childhood journeys through the neighborhood in pursuit of a perfect bag of sweets.

Recorded in 1962, Monster Mash was originally released as a single along with a full length LP titled The Original Monster Mash.  The single would eventually hit the number one spot on the Billboard Top 100 chart October 20th later that same year... Just in time for Halloween.

Here's The Misfits cover of the song too. Good stuff!

It was a graveyard smash,

Art By Sylvia Ji

Sylvia Ji is a young strikingly talented artist out of San Frangeles (she went to the Academy of Art in San Fran but currently resides in L.A.).  Her art is vibrant yet often dark and heavy in theme.  She spawns most of her works on wood panels with acrylic paints and will often spice things up a bit with some gold leaf pop.  Sylvia will have her next solo exhibition this December at the Corey Helford Gallery in la la land.  If her new works are anything like her past creations we are all in for an iconographic treat.

She's hot too...

Robles Architects: Da Costa House

I'm still trying to save enough bones to purchase a house in the States but if I had a few mill lying around (after a solid bender in Vegas) I would probably blow it on a tasty house in a tropical foreign country like this one in Costa Rica.  Nestled on the Central Pacific shore of Costa this house will repeatedly make you ask yourself the tough questions.  Like, "Should I lay on the beach today or by the pool?" Or, "How many naked broads can I fit in my huge jacuzzi bathtub?"  The Robles Architects home was designed to bring the feel of nature inside but also create an environment surrounded with modern comforts.  They achieved this through the use of endless amounts of floor to ceiling windows bordering nearly every room.  There are even windows in the bathrooms and bedrooms so if you have a problem with flashing your down belows to the occasional monkey or three toed sloth you may want to bring some drapes with you.

Pura Vida,
.Stinky Britches.
