Emma Watson in Jamaica with Jay Barrymore

For Thanksgiving vacation Emma joined Jay in Jamaica. The Daily Mail has an article and some bikini photos. You can judge if she's upset with Jay or the paparrazzi. She's looking a little skinny but her lack of good posture makes up for it. Stand up straight girl, quit slouching and amaze them with that body.  You could have got best bod is you didn't have that bent over "I'm guuna kick your ass look!"  These girls got best body.  Just sayin. (no slouchy's)

Emma Watson returning as the face of Burberry?

After a successful fall 2009 Burberry debut the rumor mill is reporting that Emma will be back as the face of Burberry for the spring '10 campaign. But now eyebrows have been raised in the fashion industry after it was revealed in media reports that Yves Saint Laurent creative director Stefano Pilati was also at the game with Emma. Was it business or two friends enjoying a hockey game? (http://nymag.com/daily/fashion/2009/11/emma_watson_seen_paling_around.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+nymag%2Ffashion+%28The+Cut+-+nymag.com%27s+Fashion+Blog+-+New+York+Magazine%29&utm_content=Twitter)

There have been numerous articles about Emma and Rafael since being spotted at the Rangers game. Here is a sampling:

Emma Watson attends Rangers game with Stefano Pilati

According to Emma's friend, Derek Blasberg, they attended last night's Rangers game at Madison Square Garden with Stefano Pilati, who is head of design for Yves Saint Laurent. Later he said they went to a party for Roberta Armani at the Standard Grill where Emma and him sat with Jen Brill. To top it off some members of the Ranger's hockey team joined the entourage.

Derek Blasberg's twitters:

The Boom Boom is happening. Added to the entourage are numbers 16, 34 and 4 from the Rangers. Drink up, losers! (I jest, I jest) from TwitterBerry
Now @thelsd dinner for Roberta Armani at Standard Grill. I got a hot seat: between Emma and @jenbrilliant. Oh, please, no Boom Boom after! from TwitterBerry
Well, that was a disappointment. Rangers lost and no bloody fights! Fun fact: as a little boy, Stefano Pilati played ice hockey in Italy from TwitterBerry
Tonight should be interesting: going with Emma Watson and Stefano Pilati to a Rangers game at Madison Square Garden! from TwitterBerry

Twitter Me This!

So obviously I haven't been writing all that much this week but fuck this takes a lot of effort. So I'm going to half ass this one too... Enjoy! There is this great new invention called the Internet! On this "Internet" people have the opportunity to post informative, educational and entertaining material. While most of the Internet is delegated to sites that cost $2.99 a month, make my right arm and wrist tired there are a few that are simply, for lack of better words witty and effervescent. I came across something special, this site or "page" falls under the gargantuous Twitter umbrella and is called "Shit My Dad Says". The title explains it all, a young man 29 years of age who happens to still live at home with his mother and 73 year old father writes down the nutty shit that spews forth from his dads jowls. Small blerps of elderly genius that only appear in the most seasoned and salty of geriatric candidates. These small blessings normally come daily and will with no doubt in my mind make you smile even if just for a brief moment whether simply from the pureness of the comedy or the comparable memory it creates from shit your own dad says.

eg. "Sometimes life leaves a hundred dollar bill on your dresser, and you don't realize until later that it's because it fucked you."

Emma Makes the Times Power Player List

Times Power List

Emma came in at #4 on the Times power player list. Considering that there was only five people in the entertainment category, this is pretty impressive. You can view the entire list here:

http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/celebrity/article6900887.ece

This is how the Times came up with the list:

"who are the new power players in this speeded-up, digital landscape? We spoke to experts in entertainment, fashion, the arts, business, media, politics and sport to compile a long list of the most influential names in each field. The only criteria we gave was that they must be British and under the age of 30 — the careers of the Noughties generation having flourished under BlackBerry rule. Then, using a formula devised by Philip Beresford, compiler of The Sunday Times Rich List, we number-crunched the list to come up with our New Power 30.
Google hits, Twitter influence, Wikipedia references and digital column inches were all taken into account, as were the number of campaigns, charitable and otherwise, and endorsements our influentials have racked up. Friends in high places add clout, as does paparazzi presence. What emerged was a list of obvious movers and shakers (you would have to have been in a coma to have missed their output this past decade), but with a few glaring omissions."

This is what they had to say about Emma:
"As the face of Burberry this season, Watson went from gawky schoolgirl to fashion ingĂ©nue. Shunning movies to study literature at Brown University in America — inspired by her mentor, JK Rowling — is a savvy move. Christopher Bailey, the creative director of Burberry, says: “She was the obvious choice for our campaign. She has a classic beauty, a great character and a modern edge.”

Tatler's Most Eligible Single List

Emma also made another list. A singles list- take what you want out of this. This one will be revealed in December's Tatler Magazine.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/6537649/Bernie-Ecclestone-79-makes-Tatler-list-of-most-eligible-singletons.html

A Good influence

Emma also is showing a good strong presence in US polls. She seems to be increasingly popular in the US. She was voted as a good influence and came in second as most popular actress.

Emma's People Tree clothing line preview

There is a small video from London Fashion week that has appeared on-line. The People Tree co-CEO, Safina Minney, talked to tm5 about Emma's upcoming clothing line. We love the printed grey dress! It sounds like People Tree is going to go all out to promote this line. It will be available in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and US on Februry 2010. Remember proceeds from this line go to charity!

Casa Surf Project

Oh Laguna Beach you have spawned so many illustrious television shows and tumultuous cat fights over the years. What could you possibly have to offer us now besides marvelous art and a stupendous little beach community? What's that you say? Gloriously designed hotels, sculpted by some of the best in the Surf / Skate/ Fashion Industry... well now that is a pleasant surprise that even Kristin Cavallari and LC would have to agree on. Just the fact that I have referenced the MTV show Laguna Beach in my blog makes me extremely depressed and disheartened in the strength of my own soul. Uhhh... now my thoughts are slightly discombobulated and I feel inebriated to the point of becoming ill.

Back to the legitimate subject of this post, The Casa Surf Project! Riviera Magazine paired up with the La Casa del Camino Hotel and allowed 10 of Southern California's premier surf/skate/ fashion designers to go to town on several rooms in the hotel. The companies that were fortunate enough to participate are; Billabong, Roxy, Glaceau, Etnies, ...Lost, Quiksilver, L*Space, Rip Curl and Riviera Mag. What they created is surprisingly eloquent but at the same time a testament to the maturity and growth that the action sports community has undergone. 10 years ago if you gave ...Lost free reign on a hotel room you better hope that you have great insurance because something or someone would probably catch on fire and your hotel may or may not end up condemned. At very least you would be left with a powerful odor that stings the nostrils. Fast forward 10 year to today and you get a romantic villa inspired hotel room. To check out all of the great rooms hit up Casa Surf Project. The overall best part is that these rooms are available to anyone so maybe one day you can brag to your sewing circle about getting freaky naughty in the Billabong room.

May I politely raid your mini bar?

Not Your Normal Tree House

A tree falls in your backyard... does it make a sound? Yup and it makes a kick ass tree house! Well at least it did when a tree fell in the backyard of a Brentwood estate owned by an art lover and philanthropist. Rockefeller Partners Architects went to town when a 40 foot pine tree went down for the count. But instead of chopping up this prepubescent pinewood derby car the still living tree was incorporated into a glorious structure that is more art than domicile. At Only 172 sq. ft. you're probably thinking they just jammed a Murphy bed and ran a hose up there so the guest had a place to sleep and some water to rinse off their down belows... Nope, this dainty dwelling has a bed, office, microwave, fridge and even a crapper to keep its guests happy. However, if you enjoy belting out the latest hot single from Miss Spears while showering be ready to share your larynx love with the neighbors because you be havin an outdoor shower yo!

Other than the fact you might get caught scrubbing your dirties by the neighbors this has to be one of the most well designed "tree houses" in so cal.

Shania Twain Back to Timmins and be Carrying the Olympic Torch

Shania Twain pictures pics photo images gallery in Timmins and be carry Olympic torchShania Twain is coming back to Timmins this winter... and she'll be carrying the Olympic Torch. The news was announced this morning by Timmins Mayor Tom Laughren and the local committee overseeing the fact that part of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay will be coming through Timmins on January 1, 2010.
It will be 100 years to the day that Noah Timmins arrived to inspect the gold mine claims staked in his name.
The Timmins leg of the Olympic torch relay will begin in Porcupine and carry on westward through the city. The highlight of the day will be a community celebration that takes part on the evening of New Year's Day at Fred Salvador Field beside the Hollinger Park.

Today’s announcement was made at the Shania Twain Center.

I think people are going to be pretty excited with this announcement,” said Mayor Tom Laughren before a group of local reporters.

“The Timmins Olympic community celebration committee is elated to announce that the final leg torch runner … will be Miss Shania Twain,” said the mayor.

“Since her rise to fame, Shania has been a tireless ambassador for our community. She has taken every opportunity to expound the virtues of her hometown,” he added.

“With her generous participation, she will not only focus a wealth of attention on Timmins, but on the Olympic Torch relay and the Vancouver games as well,” he continued.

“And I know the committee, VANOC, is elated with Timmins being able to make this announcement,” Laughren concluded.

Timmins city officials said they were delighted that the country music singing sensation had agreed to come back home to take part in the event.

Twain, who is in touch with the manager of the Shania Twain Center on a frequent basis, also released a statement:

It's an immense honour for me to have been given the opportunity to be an Olympic Torch bearer of the 2010 winter Olympics being held in my birth country of Canada in Vancouver, as it takes its journey through my home town of Timmins. It is certain to be one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I am proud to have been presented this unique opportunity and privilege and look forward to sharing the pride with my hometown and fellow Canadians as we are all proud of our country's chance to host the upcoming winter games. I have a tremendous respect for the hard work, dedication and talent of the world's greatest athletes and will humbly carry and pass on the Olympic torch with a special pride for my country's Olympians. I am grateful for this special gift of participation in carrying the flame that represents such an incredible spirit of sportsmanship and excellence and wish ALL the athletes of the 2010 Winter Olympics courage, strength and triumph during the games. I'm sending my sincerest, best wishes to each and every one of you as you take this remarkable Olympic journey. Love, Shania

“The torch will wind its way westbound through our community to our Olympic flame celebration at the Hollinger Park,” said Timmins Police torch run organizer Al Richardson.

Richardson says the celebration will begin at 6:00 pm (gates opening at 4:30 pm). The extravaganza will feature displays and entertainment from RBC and Coca-Cola along with local performers, dancers and singers who will entertain in advance of, and in proud anticipation of, the Torch arrival.

Halfway through the two-hour celebration program, Shania will carry the Olympic Torch on its final 300 meters to the stage where she will light the 1.3-meter high celebration cauldron, in a move similar to the dramatic highlight of what will occur during the Opening Ceremony for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

The celebration will end at 8:00 pm, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.

Message From Shania Twain "recovery and discovery" travel

Shania twain picture pic photoshoot image recent trip to chicago
Dear Friends,

First off, thank you for all the kind birthday wishes. I had a fabulous day with my family in Canada, ending with a surprise fireworks display.

I hope you enjoyed my "recovery and discovery" travel montage from the last several months. I took great pleasure in sharing it with all of you as a "thank you" for your support.

Now it's onto more excitement over the next few months, leading up to the New Year. I'll continue to keep you posted periodically on what's going on, as I continue to live and love each day, indulge in the joy of being a mom, continue writing, traveling, and keeping myself inspired.

The pic is from my recent trip to Chicago sitting in as a guest judge for American Idol. I had a blast and was touched by the warm welcome that Simon, Kara, Randy and Ryan extended to me. I can't wait for you to see it. I loved Chicago! So many fantastic buildings, it's super clean, has an interesting history, and the overall beauty of the place makes it very special. I also discovered "Frango" mint chocolates. Yum!

Again, sorry for the bad quality of the photo. I've gotta get Fred a better camera!

Love,

Shania

Republicans Boycott Climate Change Committee

Yes yes, I do know that this is my second political post in a row and I know that they are boring as women's basketball but I'm having trouble wrapping my melon around today’s political climate. The more I read about the political party divide in our country the less I can comprehend how these childish politicians get elected year after year. On Tuesday there was a Senate Committee hearing discussing a bill dealing with green house gas emissions. The committee is made up of 7 Republicans and 12 Democrats and was set to tackle a very important emissions bill so the committee can send it on its way to the full Senate for a vote. Well guess who decided to boycott the meeting... (Yes I know you read the title of this post so you already know) the Republicans. Actually 1 Republican did show up, who really cares what his name is at this point but he did show up for a few minutes to read the opening statements then he bailed. The Democrats are still waiting for the Republicans to magically appear and discuss this important topic that in one way or another will affect every single American.

So those are the facts, here is my question. How in the feck does not showing up for a meeting that will affect all of your constituents contribute to healthy government and ultimately a healthy America? (I use the term "healthy" in both a literal and figurative sense) The bill does have to do with green house gas emissions and climate change after all so health should fit in there somewhere. We are paying these politicians to run our government, their job is to make America run smoothly and make sure we continue to be the "Greatest nation in the world". How does not showing up for your job help? I understand that the 2 parties don't agree on this emissions bill but that's the derivative of the committee, come to an agreement through negotiation. You know... the old give and take, sharing is caring that we learned in kindergarten. Now, I know every politician answers to a higher power… aka corporations. Through lobbyists whose only job is to make sure the influential politicians vote in their corporations favor by dipping their putrid black mitts so far in their pockets they're practically giving them a reach around. Whewwwww! I feel good knowing that my government is hard at work with our best interests in mind. Today was election day so I hope that if you voted it was a researched informed decision and for a politician that is mature enough to think of more than their party's ideals and maybe care if only a little for the good of America and the citizens they represent.

Where are the lobbyists for the American people??

.Stinky Britches.
P.S. I promise no more politics for a while.
