Emma Watson movie news updates

The Tale of Despereaux is quickly coming upon us. It's release date is December 19th. Universal Studios has released some Princess Pea pics for promotion. I have to say this movie looks adorable and it's cool that they made the movie characters in the same spirit as the book art.

Harry Potter:
The international trailer for Half Blood Prince was released this week. There are few new scenes and an absolutely adorable Harry and Hermione moment at the end. I posted a you tube link but if that doesn't work for you, go to The Leaky Cauldron website. They have the video at their site I believe.
Napoleon and Betsy:
There isn't much more news but I did come across an August 2008 interview with Ben Kingsley. The director, Benjamin Ross, mentioned previously he had talked to Ben Kingsley about the role of Napoleon. Interestingly enough in this August interview, Mr. Kingsley mentions he would like to play Napoleon in exile. Right now he is filming The Prince of Persia but that does look like it's possibly in final stages. So who knows but it would be great if Mr. Kingsley did get the part and was able to fit in filming with Emma.
"“I worry about CGI when it tries to replace the actor’s human experience,” Kingsley said. “If I was to play Napoleon and they said,‘’Don’t worry, we’re going to CGI your army behind you,’ I’d say ‘No you won’t.’
Kingsley said he would play Napoleon, but in exile. It would be yet another study of a character journeying into abandon.
“I’m rather fascinated by how greatness lets go, how men let go. Kepesh lets go, of the whole architectured existence, and he demolishes it,” he said. “The journey is what attracts me. How a man changes.”

And last but not least a fellow blogger was lucky enough to meet and talk to Emma in a local pub in Oxford last Friday. Pretty cool for him. You can read his account here at his very nicely done blog:http://nicksoxfordblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/is-it-seriously-snowing-already.html

Napoleon and Betsy update for Emma Watson fans

IMDB updated the Napoleon and Betsy page. They moved the status from announced to pre production, which means principal photography can begin any moment. Only Emma Watson is listed as a cast member which is okay since IMDB is known for listing cast based on rumors. Remember the Emma Watson is the pink power ranger? I remember the pink power ranger rumor! Shudders.
They have filming now listed for the fall, more specifically October. But November and half of December is also considered "fall" so it's all just guess work. But news is news, so I'll take it. Feel free to go over to the Napoleon and Betsy page at IMDB and if you want, have discussions at the message board - if you dare!

Emma Watson attends TAR magazine party

http://www.papermag.com/blogs/2008/10/tar_party.php
"Spotted at this intimate, little fiesta was fellow New Yorker, Derek Blasberg, who arrived with Harry Potter hottie, Emma Watson."
For a little FYI about TAR: Tar is a new 300-page biannual art and fashion magazine started by BlackBook founder Evanly Schindler and Maurizio Marchiori of Diesel. The magazine launched last week at the Frieze Art Fair in London.
I couldn't help but notice the Frieze Art fair and Diesel connections.
Another mention on Style.com:
After a doozy of a Thursday night—six parties in five hours left me beyond taxi-poor—the art world was ready to kick the tar out of the Frieze Art Fair (that’s a pun you’ll understand in a sec) on Friday. That evening, Neville Wakefield and Evanly Schindler’s new art rag, Tar, was fĂȘted at an underground speakeasy on Swallow Street. Rivington Arms’ Melissa Bent and Mirabelle Marden took a booth next to one shared by Venetia Scott and New York art director Patrick Li; Emma Watson and the Kills singer Alison Mosshart held court near the dance floor with artist Adam McEwen and art partrons of the future Eugenie Niarchos.
Emma also came in at number 4 for Vogues best dressed list for the week of 10-20-08. They liked her Diesel XXX Rock & Roll Circus dress. Thanks to Fernanda again for the heads up!

Emma Watson honored by Chanel with private VIP dinner

Did you know during Paris fashion week, Emma was honored by Chanel with a very private, very VIP dinner? I didn't! But according to Vogue that's exactly what happened. Congrats Emma!
http://www.style.com/vogue/scene/2008/10/fashion-fever/
"Friday night, Chanel’s French crew held a very VIP, very private dinner in honor of Emma Watson (the winner of this week’s most-shows-attended award, along with Dita Von Teese) at Mathis, and down the road Giambattista Valli dined with his nearest and dearest in tow (Natalie Portman among the lucky few) at the very yummy Kaviar Kaspia."

MSN UK thinks Emma could be the next Angelina Jolie.
http://entertainment.uk.msn.com/movies/galleries/gallery.aspx?cp-documentid=10196572&imageindex=2
"Emma Watson’s been a veteran of the action sequence (thanks, Harry!) since the tender age of 11. The young starlet has the experience and style to fill Angie’s baddie-busting heels with grace."

The Guardian thinks since Emma's being getting into fashion she'll be in rehab in about two yrs. I guess that what happens to university minded, possibly Ivy League bound starlets. Rehab.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2008/oct/18/measure-fashion
"Emma Watson 18, stupidly rich, going to way too many fashion shows. We give her two years until rehab. We hope we're wrong, of course, but we're usually not."

And speaking of rich, the frieze art fair did it's job by helping the economy. And article today says how nearby stores saw brisk business. It had an Emma mention so I figured I would mention it.

More Emma Watson and Jay Barrymore news

Well the Daily Mail agrees that Jay does bear a resemblance to Prince William. So I'm not totally nuts. It seems that Emma and Jay were holding hands. Of coarse, no pics of that! I got a feeling this won't be the last we see of these two now now that the are public. I could be wrong though.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1078156/Emma-Watsons-new-spell-Prince-William-lookalike-.html

Also an Emma mention from the Scotsman. They thought she looked slight and beautiful. Very nice.
http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/features/Market-Frieze-More-like-slow.4602107.jp
"The celebrity shoppers were certainly out in force this week. Gwyneth Paltrow, George Michael and actress Emma Watson, slight and stunningly beautiful as she weaved through the crowds, were among the collectors wandering Frieze’s 200,000sq ft steel-framed tent in London’s Regent’s Park. "

Emma Watson attends the Frieze Art Fair with boyfriend

Emma Watson attended the Frieze Art Fair with assumed boyfriend Jay Barrymore yesterday. This is really the first time the couple has been spotted together publicly so perhaps it's not a secret anymore. They make a cute couple. He has a Prince William resemblance IMO. Okay maybe not so much. I love the leather jacket by the way!!!

The Daily Mail has a little article about them rekindling their romance. I don't think they ever broke up so I don't know what they think she has to rekindle. But thats what happens when the Mail links her romantically with every guy she's seen with.

Another Emma Watson sighting in NY

Well the Gawker Stalker, which is part of Columbia University's undergraduate magazine, lived up to it's name and spotted Emma in NY. Although they didn't get any pics. What is up with that? They seem to be hoping she'll visit Columbia University while she is in NY. That seems reasonable I guess. Too bad they can't just talk to faculty member and director of Napoleon and Betsy, Benjamin Ross and find out if the movie is close to filming. Now that would be useful information. Imagine the blog stats they would get with that inf0. (Was that subtle?)
http://www.bwog.net/articles/hermione_so_close_and_yet

The Grazia Fashion website named Emma the winner of the Paris fash-off. I have no idea who this Dita is BTW but it's all good.
http://www.graziadaily.co.uk/fashion/archive/2008/10/03/emma-watson-wins-the-paris-fash-off.htm

Emma got another Instyle fashion notice. The liked her A-list look at the Diesel party. Thanks to Fernanda who let us know about this.

And I haven't watched this video but it supposed to be Emma talking a little french.

New details of Emma Watson's visit to Yale plus NY City candids

The Yale Daily News updated news about Emma's visit last week. It's a pretty informative article and it seems Emma did appear to enjoy her visit.

Last Thursday at lunch, Berkeleyites got a taste of Hogwarts alongside their dining hall enchiladas.
Emma Watson, 18, the actress who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, was on campus Thursday as part of a series of visits to East Coast colleges and universities. Watson stopped in New Haven to take a private tour of Yale’s campus and talk to students about their experiences at the University. During her brief visit, Watson generated considerable attention on a campus known for its resemblance to — and obsession with — Hogwarts.
John Song ’11, a sports reporter for the News, was eating lunch in the main dining hall when Watson descended from the upstairs Berkeley Swiss Room to bus her tray. Dozens of cell phones instantly materialized in the hands of starstruck students.
“Everyone just got out their phones and started calling people,” he said, adding that he first text-messaged his mother. “There was kind of a … little buzz around, everyone was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Emma Watson,’ but no one went up to her.”
Amandla Ooko-Ombaka ’10, who works at the admissions office, was one of the lucky undergraduates who ate lunch with Watson and a few other Yalies. The young actress wanted a first-hand account of academic and social life at Yale, she said.
One of the topics discussed, Ooko-Ombaka recalled, was the benefits of a liberal arts education — a system not as common on the other side of the pond.
“She was really, really very down-to-earth, and we just talked to her as Yale students,” she said. “It wasn’t like, ‘Oh my God, you were in Harry Potter.’ ”
Before lunch Thursday, Watson took a private tour led by Drew Rowny ’10, head tour guide for the admissions office. Her itinerary included typical prospective student staples such as an information session, Rowny said, but the French-born British actress requested that her visit be kept to a low profile.
“Emma Watson requesting a tour is a little bit different than Joe Six-Pack requesting a tour, but not so much,” he said. “I think we treat everyone who asks for a tour pretty similarly. My sense is that she had a good visit, and that who knows, [hopefully] she’s going to put an application in.”
But for Rowny himself, the tour certainly had its unique moments. On part of his tour, he usually tells a joke that features wizards as the punchline, but he decided to omit it this time in front of Hermione “for obvious reasons.”
Dean of Admissions Jeff Brenzel said the admissions office tries to accommodate “reasonable” requests for private tours if the person in question is highly recognizable.
“[Watson] wanted to come to see Yale, not to be treated as a celebrity,” Brenzel said.
But Brenzel emphasized that the offices does not give special treatment to some groups over others, nor does he personally give evaluative interviews to candidates or counsel candidates about their applications.
Even for those who did not have the chance to meet Watson in person, signs of campus excitement generated by her visit still linger. By the tray racks in the Saybrook College dining hall, the only hint of color in the white-tiled area is a glamorous close-up of the actress in a pink dress.
“Do you want Emma Watson to come to Yale?” the poster reads. “Then push your tray to the back!”

Also last Sunday Emma was spotted talking a stroll with her friend, Roberto Aguirre. It seems when Emma spotted the paparazzi she started making faces and sticking her tongue out. No matter, they posted the pics anyways.

Emma Watson - Diesel xXx Rock & Roll Circus

This update ranks a mocha. Emma Watson attended the Diesel xXx Rock & Roll Circus Saturday night in New York. Rumor is that Emma and Lindsey Lohan rocked it up back stage. There are even reports she chatted with Chase Crawford although that can't be confirmed. Can't blame though, can we?
credit to http://emmadaily.com/ for the pics.

Emma is also the cover girl for Flare Magazine for Nov 2008.. The pictures are really great and the article is also an interesting read.
Article:

"Lady in Waiting"
Juliette Baxter catches up with Emma Watson, England's "It" Girl and newest trend-setter, as she graduates from Harry Potter to Hollywood. Photography by Lorenzo Agius. Finally, a young starlet who doesn't suggest she's "just a regular girl" who happens to be living the dream. Emma Watson, 18, more commonly known as Hermione Granger from the billion-dollar Harry Potter franchise, would have a hard time convincing us she's anything but extraordinary. She's one of the top earning young stars in the world, reportedly pocketing $4 million [note from bravelittletoaster: that would be Canadian dollars] a movie; she's starring in the animated feature The Dale of Despereaux (look for it next month) alongside Hollywood heavyweights Dustin Hoffman and Matthew Broderick; she's a red-carpet fave, sporting Chanel couture often and effortlessly; she's finished her A Levels (that's senior year in the U.K.) with A+ marks; and she considers Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling an inspiration--and a friend."[Rowling's] always told me I remind her of herself, which is so unbelievable because she's so amazing," says Watson, stumbling over her words and the comparison. The best advice she's received from the woman she personally calls "Jo" came when Watson confided in Rowling regarding a major life decision (which she remains elusive about): "Trust yourself. I know you will succeed at anything you do."The evidence of her success is compelling. At nine years old, she was among thousands of girls vying to play the coveted role of Hermione and her eagerness to thrive at the character slowed down shooting during Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. "I wanted everything to be so perfect. I would work so hard to memorize my lines and the scene; we would have to stop shooting because I was mouthing Rupert [Grint]'s and Dan [Radcliffe]'s lines at the same time. That's something I had to get over."Seven years later, the young actor has graduated to blockbuster star status. She's learned to position herself in her best light, she's stopped looking straight into the camera, she knows the different between the key grip and a dolly, and she's just wrapped one of her most challenging scenes in the highly anticipated Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, slated for release in July 2009. "I had to cry for the first time when Hermione watches Ron kiss Lavender. It was difficult to bring up all that emotion and hurt in front of a full crew, and not just once, but over and over again from different angles."Watson's not only grown as an actor but also a burgeoning style setter. She's quick to rhyme off her favourite labels: Chanel, Burberry, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga. "I don't like to look too perfect," she says. "I like to mix and match my own outfits." She's especially proud of the vintage outfit she pulled together with her mom and Harry Potter costume designer Jany Temime for the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. (Rachel Zoe, eat your heart out.) She confessed one of her style inspirations is Molly Ringwald in the '80s flick Pretty in Pink. "I just love the way she put things together. It's so different and unexpected."Most importantly, during her tenure playing a role as iconic as Princess Leia in Star Wars, Watson's mastered the media, us included. "What advice would you give teen queen Miley Cyrus?" Diplomatically, and empathetically, she replies: "I would never tell anyone what to do. All I know is that it's hard, really hard [being famous]. One you've invited the media into your life, you have to live with it. Focusing on school helped me get through it."While some young stars are chewed up, spit out and left to negotiate fame on their own, the guiding hand of Warner Bros. studios helped Watson remain levelheaded. She explains Harry Potter movie execs were aware from the beginning they were going to change the course of her life and were sensitive to her needs: since the start, Watson has had the same driver, Nigel ("I just love him"), and on-set Potter hair and makeup team ("They're there first thing in the morning until I take off my makeup at night"); when going out somewhere very public, bodyguards are willingly provided; and shoots are scheduled around her classes and exams, without question. "The publicity department was also very mindful about which media we [Watson, Radcliffe (Harry) and Grint (Ron)] were exposed to. They would send us on media junkets together so we could rely on each other."While she talks, it's clear Watson finds comfort in her costars. "They're very protective," she says, and together they've survived the juggernaut of overnight fame, media scrutiny and the pressure of carrying the weight of the Harry Potter industry. Watson adores their friendship, in and out of character, because both are so honest. "I have a lot of guy friends. I love that I always know where I stand with them." Although destined to headline with Radcliffe and Grint for another two years, she's aware her life as she knows it is shifting. "I am in a transitional period in a lot of different ways. I am changing and making lots of decisions about my future. It's a very exciting and slightly scary time." And there's plenty of speculation buzzing in the blogosphere about her next move--she's planning to go to Cambridge; she's reportedly becoming the poster girl for a major fashion label; and she is set to star in Napoleon and Betsy, as the object of the French emperor's affection, a role originally offered to Scarlett Johansson. Whatever happens next, you can bet we will all be watching.

Also, a lovely article about Emma to finish off the Paris Fashion Week that let us know Emma was planning on an east coast trip to the States to tour universities. And that definitely came true in just a few days!

Fashion writer Derek Blasberg was at Fashion Week and had this to say about Emma in his Style.com blog:The sweetest person I’ve met this Paris fashion week has been Emma Watson, the 18-year-old British actress making her first trek to the Parisian collections. “I’ve been to fashion shows before, like the Chanel show that was in London in December,” she told me. “But this is the first time I’ve been to shows like this. This is my first time at fashion week, and let me tell you, it’s pretty intense.” She’s made a pretty good first run: spending a few hours actually looking at the pictures at Patrick Demarchelier’s exhibit at the Petit Palais (how novel) on Tuesday night, attending Sonia Rykiel’s anniversary fashion show and party (”That was amazing!”), and going to a handful of the big fashion shows, like Giambattista Valli (”I don’t even know where to begin”) and Chanel (”Now, that was a big deal”). But Watson’s got her sights on something beyond mere fashion: After her time in Paris, she’s planning a trip to the East Coast to look at universities.

Shortly after this article the Harvard Crimson told the world that Emma did indeed visit. She left some student distraught that they missed her and at one point, while visiting the English department, students got so out of hand they had to be warned to stay away.

Later that week she was reported to have been seen at Yale, following a visit to Brown University. According to the Yale Daily News, students went nuts just trying to touch her. Some wanted to hide in bushes to get a picture and a few lucky students got to talk to her as she stopped for a chat in the dining hall.

The Harry Potter LJ Community:

She's in the US looking at colleges (my friend at Harvard said she was seen in campus tour groups there a couple of days ago), and sure enough, I walked right past her in the Berkeley Dining Hall at Yale University. Had to do a double take. But yeah, apparently she's considering some pretty top American universities! Which is strange, because for some reason I thought she was enrolling at Cambridge...any insight?I did get to speak with her very briefly, she was with her Admissions-Office-assigned tour guide when I glimpsed her in the dining hall, but looked very low key, very comfortable, and stopped really quickly to say hi to some people who finally realized that it was really her and were waving enthusiastically across the dining hall. Very strange, though, because technically she's the one visiting us!But seriously, you can't get any closer to Hogwarts in the U.S. than at Yale. Good taste, Emma, v. good taste.Quote from student in the updated blog of the Yale Daily News:Saw her walking around with one of the head tour guides, and now she's in the admissions office having an interview. Once I muster the courage (read: creepyness), I'll take pictures from the bushes or save her from being run over by a bus or something.

The Yale Daily News:

After Hogwarts, could Hermione join the Muggles at Yale?Magic came to Yale yesterday as campus was abuzz with excitement over the sighting of Emma Watson, the 18-year-old British starlet of Harry Potter fame, who received a private tour. One student said he spotted Watson eating in the Berkeley dining hall balcony with her “mum” and a Yale student. “People went nuts on campus, trying to touch her,” he said. In a brief conversation with Watson, perhaps better known as the character Hermione, the student said he learned the actress, who received straight A grades on her A-level exams, toured Harvard on Tuesday and Brown on Wednesday. Note to Emma: Yale is Hogwarts. Harvard is Azkaban.

Finally at the end of the working week, Emma was spotted by a fan and fellow blogger at Sarfina's. Then later the Diesel event on Saturday.

Emma Watson invades Paris Fashion Week recap

I am ashamed to admit as an Emma Watson fan I failed. I failed to keep up with all the events Emma attended this week in Paris. I tried. I really did. I even set up various news alerts that would notify me whenever a new article containing the words "Emma Watson" hit the net. But to my defense, the news alerts couldn't keep up either. They missed half of them too. A person does have to sleep you know! So I'm just going to post some of my favorite pics, articles and videos of the past week.

The best article was from the "The Times." It was exclusively about Emma and Chanel. It's a must read for all Emma fans.
Plus a funny article from the Daily Mail about how the youth are reclaiming fashion. It had a cute Emma mention.

The Chanel show with the boss:
Christian Dior (with amazing Burberry jacket:) The Giambattista Valli Show: (there's a cute one with her friend)
Sonia Rykiel

Yves Saint-laurent (signing autographs)

Candid's in Paris:

There was a creepy moment this week in Paris I sort of want to talk about. In the beginning of the week a stalker video was filmed. I call it a stalker video because basically it was. It starts out great, Emma giving a photo op time for fans and paparazzi alike. The difference between fans and paparazzi becomes evident. Fans leave, paparazzi follow Emma the whole day shouting at her constantly. In my opinion, three guys following around a teen aged girl regardless of the celeb status is just wrong. Emma had already posed with them so what was the point? Finally, Emma decided to pointedly tell them NO! Enough is enough. You can't hear the conversation but you can see she is upset. Where was her security? If she doesn't have any then maybe she should give it a consideration. And being the teenager she is, she agrees to pose for photos with them again and even shakes their hands. I think that was all she was able to do considering and I do commend her grace and patience in the situation. (I probably would have punched them!) But I just didn't think it was safe. They were strangers and if that were my daughter I would be upset. Okay I'll get off my soapbox. If you want to watch it here is the link and feel free to leave a message if you like.

On a lighter not a certain college in the states has been dealing with a Emma may attend rumor for a few years now. Once Emma announced she may be coming to the States for her college education, the rumor picked up speed. It got to the point the Associate Dean of admissions of the college had to release a statement. I think what the Associate Dean says at the end of the article sort of ties in with the stalker video. Coincidence? Sometimes things just work out like that.
